The Glass-Bottom Pool project at Bayu Bay Magic Hot Spring Park, located in Liaoning, China, posed challenges during the design phase. During the initial site inspection, Soho Horizon engineers discovered that the project site is situated in a seismic zone. Records indicate that over 60 earthquakes with a magnitude of 4.7 or higher have occurred in this seismic zone, including 6 earthquakes between magnitude 7 and 7.9, and 1 earthquake with a magnitude exceeding 8. To overcome the seismic challenges, requirements for the resilience, quality, and installation precision of the pool glass bottom panels had to be elevated. Furthermore, Liaoning experiences extremely low temperatures in winter, reaching below minus thirty degrees Celsius, while summer temperatures can exceed thirty degrees Celsius, resulting in a temperature difference of over sixty degrees Celsius. In such an environment, the glass pool bottom panels also demand high weather resistance.
